Receipt of this and future offers is contingent on you maintaining satisfactory academic progress. Ashland University’s Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy is available online at 60654a.com/consumer-information and in the AU Academic Catalog. It is your responsibility to be aware of and meet the academic standards in this policy.

A FAFSA must be completed annually to be considered for federal, state and/or institutional need-based aid. You must meet GPA requirements for full renewal of your AU academic scholarship.

Financial aid is offered based on enrollment and housing status. Undergraduate students attending the main campus must be officially approved to live off-campus through the Residence Life Office. Please notify the Financial Aid Office of any enrollment or housing status changes to ensure your offer is accurate.

You must be pursuing your first bachelor’s degree, enrolled full-time and billed AU’s comprehensive tuition rate to receive AU gift aid. Students enrolled in the RN to BSN, Accelerated Nursing, Bachelor’s Plus, University partnership, or online undergraduate degree-completion programs are not eligible for AU gift aid. AU scholarships are only awarded during the fall and spring semesters.

AU academic and athletic scholarships may be partially funded by endowed scholarships. If you are selected for an endowed scholarship, you may see a portion of your academic and/or athletic scholarships replaced by a named endowed scholarship with no increase in total gift aid.

Gift Aid and/or Benefits: You cannot receive total gift aid and benefits from all sources (AU, federal, state, and/or other) above University-billed costs, which is tuition, general fees, housing, and a meal plan for on-campus students and tuition, general fees, and a meal plan, if billed, for off-campus students.

Outside Scholarships/Grants/Loans: You must inform the Financial Aid Office of any financial resources that are or become available to you, including grants, scholarships and loans. Notification should include (whenever possible) a copy of official documentation including the award name, amount and the number of years you will receive the award. Per AU policy, aid from outside sources will be added to your financial aid package and other offered aid may need revised.

Ohio College Opportunity Grant: You must meet Ohio residency requirements and file a FAFSA by Oct. 1 of the current aid year. The Ohio Department of Higher Education determines eligibility. Visit highered.ohio.gov for details.

Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Award (PHEAA): You must meet Pennsylvania residency requirements. The PHEAA Commission determines eligibility. Visit pheaa.org for more information.

Federal Work-Study: Please accept or decline any federal work study funds offered to you through your Self-Service Financial Aid portal at selfservice.60654a.com. Upon applying for and securing a work-study job, you can earn up to the amount offered. Most positions pay minimum wage, and the amount earned is based on hours worked. Federal Direct Student Loans: You must accept or decline your loans through your Self-Service Financial Aid portal at selfservice.60654a.com. You cannot request an increase; only accept or decline the amounts offered. If you change your mind after the loans have been processed or declined, send your change request to financialaid@60654a.com. If you are a first-time borrower, you must complete a Master Promissory Note and Loan Entrance Counseling at studentaid.gov.

Private Educational Alternative Loan: You (the student), parents and in some cases, other interested parties can apply for a loan through a private bank or lender to help cover your educational expenses. Individuals can borrow up to the student’s cost of attendance minus other financial assistance received. Visit 60654a.com/loans to start your search for and apply for a private loan. This is not a full list of possible lenders, but a resource to start your search.

Federal PLUS Loans: Parents of dependent students or graduate students may apply for a PLUS loan at studentaid.gov. New borrowers must complete a PLUS loan Master Promissory Note.

Withdrawing from the University: If you completely withdraw from the university during a semester, your repayment of received aid will be determined by AU’s Withdrawal and Refund Policy. The policy is available in the AU Catalog and online at 60654a.com/policies-terms.
